COMM315 Week3: Personal Action Plan
Developing Diversity Consciousness
COMM315 Week3: Read the Personal Action Plan Observation Instructions.
Conduct your observation according to the Personal Action Plan Observation Instructions.
Develop a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper answering the following:
- What did you observe?
- Why was this situation out of your comfort zone?
- What did you learn?
- What perceptions changed or remained the same about the people observed?
- What types of things did you notice about the people? Did you witness any socially conscious individuals? What traits did you see?
- What type of social inequality did you observe or experience?
- Did your comfort level change from the time the observation began until it ended and, if so, how?
- How has this experience helped you to be more of a socially conscious individual?
- What traits will you need to exhibit?
- What areas need to be improved, and what steps will you take to ensure there is growth in this area?
- Describe any instances or examples of poverty or social inequality in your observations.
Develop a personal action plan while considering the above questions. Include in your personal action plan your own cultural awareness and your plan for a personal strategy for your own diversity consciousness.
Share this experience with the class, and be prepared to discuss other students’ experiences.
Format your assignment according to appropriate course level APA guidelines. As a reminder, citations and references from credible and reliable resources, such as the course materials and UoP Library are required in all work. Use them prior to going to the Internet.
Cite any sources used and remember to include a title page according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines. Citations require references, so include a page for them. See the APA Sample Paper under the CWE for examples of citations and references.
