MGT434 Week5: Employment Law Team Case Briefs:
Week 5 Team Presentation
Using the IRAC method, analyze the two cases assigned your team for Week 5. Included in your IRAC analysis your team will discuss:
1) The relevant FACTS of the case
2) What is the ISSUE the parties are fighting over?
3) What is the LAW governing this issue or dispute?
4) How does the rule APPLY to these unique set of facts?
5) What is the CONCLUSION of the court? What is the final outcome of the case? How did the court apply or modify the law?
Using the IRAC method, create an 10-15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation in which your team will analyze the two employment/labor law cases you have been assigned. Additionally, be sure to summarize how the legal concepts in the assigned case can be applied within a business managerial setting.
These are the assigned cases:
- Team A: Junio v. Livingston Parish Fire District No. 5 (p.772-774) and Staub v. Proctor Hospital (handout).
- Team B: Reich v. Circle C Investments, Inc. (p. 828-829) and Ricci v. Destefano (handout).
- Team C: Electromation v. National Labor Relations Board (p. 772-774) and Thompson v. North American Stainless, LP (handout)
- Team D: Mullins v. City of New York (p. 829-831) and Kasten v. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corp. (handout)
Note: Grades are awarded based upon individual contributions to the Learning Team assignment. Each Learning Team member receives a grade based upon his/her contributions to the team assignment. Not all students may receive the same grade for the team assignment.
