A research article is one in which the author collects primary data on a topic to answer a question. So-called “review articles” in which an author summarizes research conducted by others would not be acceptable for you to review. You are doing a miniature version of a review article for this assignment so you need to review primary research.
Review a minimum of three (3) articles on your selected topic. Note: You may have to read more than three articles to select three to review in depth. Some articles may be too technical or too theoretical to be readily reviewed and summarized.
A review will consist of a brief summary of the research topic, the study conducted, the results or data obtained, and the conclusions, applications or recommendations of the author(s). Note: Do not just quote or paraphrase the article or the abstract. Explain the purpose and findings of the research in your own words. Brief quotes only are acceptable (no more than 10% of the word count should be quotes). Each review should be about 200 – 300 words.
The heading for each review should be an APA-style reference. (A References page is also be required).
Following the reviews of the articles, add a concluding section in which you synthesize the research reviewed. In a synthesis, you look for common themes and underlying trends and discuss what these research articles contribute to HR theory and/or practice. This section should be 200-300 words long.
Include an introductory section that introduces the topic and explains the purpose of the paper. This is needed to focus the paper and provide it with direction and momentum. Give the reader a sense of why this is an important or interesting topic. The intro should be about 100-200 words.
Total word count 900 – 1400 words, longer if you review more than 3 articles.
Grading Rubric – use for guidance in preparing your paper.
